You haven’t been on a ski holiday to Queenstown if you haven’t been visiting the Cardrona Alpine Ski Resort. Our driver Angus accompanied a fun group of snowboarders up to this fantastic Winter snow playground. (18 in total, so all seats in one of our Mercedes Sprinter vans were taken)
The group stayed at the Mercure Resort up at Fernhill and were keen to get up to the mountain at a more leisurely time. So Angus picked them up at 9am. A quick stop at the Brown’s Ski and Snowboard Shop to pick up their gear and of course a pie from the Fergbakery was accounted for.
Cardrona is just over an hour drive from Queenstown. It took a little longer on this trip as Angus had to fit chains due to some fresh snow that had fallen the night before.
Some superb skiing and snowboarding conditions we have had this winter. Cardrona did not let us down this day either. The group was delivered outside the Cardrona ticket office and enjoyed a fantastic day up in the snow.
With 25% beginners, 25% intermediate, 30% advanced and 20% expert runs Cardrona is one of New Zealand’s favourite ski fields. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed this as the group were a mix of beginners and advanced boarders.
By 4pm it was time to head down from the mountain. The massive boot space in our spec of the art vehicle has also been appreciated by this group. 18 snowboarders do have a lot of gear.
While you are up at Cardrona you have to enjoy a mulled wine and some delicious food at the old Cardrona Pub. Angus suggested it to our guests too, who were very excited about the stop over on the way home.
